WHAT WE DO

SAMAJIK UNNAYAN SANGSTHA (SUS) is a non-profit, humanitarian, and voluntary organization that was established in 1986. Since the early beginning of SUS, it has been working for neglected and deprived people carrying with elongated experience on some specific social issues such as Education, promoting human rights and good government, Women Empowerment, Capacity-building, Livelihood Improvement, Gender Equality, Agriculture Development, and Development of Person with disabilities, Health, Water & Sanitation, Education, Disaster Mitigation & Management and social forestry. Basically, SUS intended to involve women, children, the Gypsy community and disabled people in myriad development practices where they would undergo equal opportunities, mobility, and dignity in an equitable society.

Thinking about such beliefs and expectations, at the outset, it started to work with Kumarkhaly Fishermen groups, the Gypsy community, disadvantaged women & Children, and people with disability. So, SUS established a school for children with disability, formed women's group to strengthen women's group,s and adopted programmes for poor and disadvantaged people in order to promote and transform their lives so that they could lead a life of dignity in society.

Finally 5th January 1986 saw the birth of the organization in the name of SUS at Union- Dhapdopia, Upazila-Nalchity of Jhalokathi district, as an acronym SUS focused on human rights, women empowerment, child development, and equitable society.
